How to Play 7 Card Stud Poker

7 Card Stud is an exhilarating version of poker whereas the aim of the game is to make a five card poker hand combination using seven cards. A deck of 52 cards is used to play seven card stud. Eventually each player will have seven cards on the table, comprising of two pocket (private) cards and five face up on the table. As with other poker variants the highest ranking poker hand wins the pot.

The game begins with each player betting an ante into the pot before being dealt into the game. The ante is usually a pre-determined set amount. Once the antes have been placed on the table the dealer will deal each player two cards face down starting from his left. The play always moves in a clockwise direction.  These are the kown as the players whole cards.

 Once each player has been dealt their whole cards the dealer then deals each player a single card. This single card is placed face up on the table for all of the opposing players to view. These three cards are then used by the player towards making a five card combination with the single one staying face up.

Then all of the cards that were placed face up are assessed and the player with the lowest face value card showing has to place the first bet. Known as the small bet, when the small bet is placed this is referred to as the bring in as it brings the players into the game. Then each player starting from the left, has a turn betting into the pot. They can Call (match the bet), Raise (Raise the bet amount) or Fold (resign from hand).

Once each player has placed their bet, the dealer deals each player texas calculatemanother card face up. This is known as the Turn. The players will then asses their cards by evaluating the cards in their hand and taking into account the opposing players face up cards. Then starting with the highest Turn Card, each player has a turn betting into the pot. Again they can Call (match the bet), Raise (Raise the bet amount) or Fold (resign from hand). From now onwards each hand will begin with the player who has the highest dealt card.

After all of the players have bet on their hand the dealer deals a fifth card, again face up. And another round of betting occours starting with the highest card dealt. After this round of betting has completed the dealer will deal a sixth card face up. And again another round of betting takes place. Then after all the bets are placed the dealer will deal the final seventh card but this time face down. Players will now asses their available hand combinations and bet accordingly.

Once all the remaining players have placed their final bet, each player reveals their cards (known as the showdown). The player with the highest ranking five card poker hand wins the pot.
