Staking an Interest
Anyone who has followed my writings for a while will be aware of how I often stake players in the lower stakes games online. I often find that this gives me as much interest as actually playing the game these days. I have lost a lot of interest in the higher stakes games for the simple reason being that I felt that my game had reached a plateau and the dedicated full-time players were simply moving on.
Some very strong and powerful players have felt the need to multi-account and this just underlines how the higher limits are getting seriously tough……far too tough for me to even want to go down that road of trying to beat them these days. I had a serious 100k reverse in 2008 and I got all of that back but the writing was on the wall then and I cut out while I could and was thankful to not have a 100k loss to haunt me. But the fact of the matter was that I could have dug myself a serious hole.
That loss spooked me and still does but it also shows that you lose the fire in your belly as you get older. I get as much interest these days with the more gentile side of poker and I staked around 30 players in 2009 at low-stakes play and that went very well on the whole. I will be looking to do that again at the back end of this year and will be looking for ten new recruits although finding time will be an issue.
Slowly starting to play my way into the $100-$10k challenge on 888poker and bankroll is now $171 so my tight bankroll control has protected me from all my stupid spew like play. Once I reach $200 then I will be playing $10 games…….wow……serious bucks.
